Thankful is the debut album by American pop singer Kelly Clarkson, released in the United States by RCA on April 15, 2003 (see 2003 in music). "A Moment Like This" was its first single, followed by "Miss Independent", "Low" and "The Trouble with Love Is".
Initially scheduled for a November 2002 release, the album was a success when it was eventually released. It debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 with 297,000 copies sold. "Miss Independent" went on to be a Top 10 hit in the US. Further singles "Low" and "The Trouble with Love Is" failed to replicate this success. Still, the album went on to be certified double platinum, with almost 3 million copies shipped.
The album's success was more limited internationally, however, it did sell 900,000 copies outside of the United States, without a major international release.
